Coaches in the company knows Tony as the God-father of cycling coaching. Reason? Well, just because he is the one who created the Learn to Cycle methodology adopted by the company from Day 1!

When interviewed for this write up, Tony shares that he has always favoured the great outdoors as an outdoor junkie over the indoors, both as a hobby or career. “I guess all the outfield in the Army must have stuck with me till now!” He shared with excitement over his daily coffee. His full time career as an Army Officer ended when he decided to trade his rifle for the pen and pursue his Degree in Business Marketing. During his studies and after, Tony took up roles as ODAC President and Chief coach trainer in various outdoor and sports company, which in years to come became the cornerstone for his success in his business and cycling coaching.

In the year 2014, Tony setup Biking Singapore as he saw a market to introduce Learn to Cycle as an enjoyable and effortless process.

“My objective was simple. I wanted a structured program which would allow participants of all fitness, weight and gender to pick up cycling within 2 classes.”  He shared with the same enthusiasm that spurred him in the earlier days of the company.

“That itself wasn’t a challenge since I had the sports science theory to create the program. The key challenge was to make it fun and enjoyable so the participants wouldn’t dread coming back for the 2nd class!”  Tony exclaimed with a chuckle. To ensure that, Tony emphasises a lot on relationship building between the coaches and the participant. Which till now has remained the key motto for all our coaches.

So what’s next for Tony? Having completed his performance cycling coach course with the Singapore Cycling Federation, Tony is looking to develop cycling training courses for national level competitions for the various discipline (Track, Mountain Bike, Road and BMX).

Till date, Tony has graduated at least 600 non-cyclist to proficient cyclist and over 10 cycling coaches who shares similar successes with the company. As a testimonial to his coaching philosophy and training achievement, Biking Singapore’s Learn to Cycle course has been sought after by clients not just from Singapore but also those from England, Hong Kong, Malaysia and India.
